CSA stands for "Community Supported Agriculture." You pre-pay for the season, and get an assortment of fresh produce delivered each week. It's a convenient way to get a great range of fresh produce every week. It doesn't get more fresh or local than this (it's less than a 30 mile round trip from the farm to Durham and back). If you have time to cook each week, love vegetables, and enjoy eating new greens and roots, then our CSA is for you! If don't have the time to cook each week, or don't want to learn new recipes, then you should perhaps start with the smallest size or the "You-choose" option, which let's you select what you receive each week (see below). If you like planning your meals in advance and don't want to improvise, then shopping at the farmers' market is a better fit. The CSA is also a great way to support the farm and a growing local business that strives to produce the highest quality product in the most responsible manner possible. We aren't certified organic, but we use organic practices. The CSA directly supports the people who work on the farm, and is helping Dig It Farm become a more diversified, sustainable business. Keep in mind that a local farm is much more subject to the vagaries of the weather than the supermarket. Crop failures happen. The great thing about a diversified farm is that if there are no tomatoes, there might be a bumper crop of cucumbers or basil. Any situation is possible. We strive to put a diversity of produce in the box each week, but remember that above all a CSA requires flexibility, and a desire to use what is available during the season. You might need to make pesto with all the basil you get one week, or tomato sauce, depending on the situation. We always try to deliver more than what we promise, and your money is going to support an enterprise that believes in taking care of our community, land, and planet.

Let's do this!!!
