Dig It Farm is seeking enthusiastic workers for the 2016 growing season. We are looking for part-time or full-time help with all aspects of this small-scale farm growing hundreds of varieties of herbs, roots, greens, and summer produce. We lease 1.5 acres in Bahama, 20 minutes north of downtown Durham. Entering our 4th year of business, we sell primarily to 2 Saturday markets, 1 mid-week market, and a growing CSA. Though not certified, we observe organic standards and believe strongly in local, diversified, organic agriculture.

We are looking for 1 full-time or 2 part-time awesome farm workers to assist with all aspects of the operation: seeding in the greenhouse, planting, weeding, trellising, harvesting, packing, and possibly selling at market. This is a great opportunity to learn the basics of a young and growing farm. The job begins April 1 and ends Nov. 22. Shorter terms are possible, but the ideal candidate will commit for the whole season.

Prior experience is not necessary, though previous farm and garden work is desired. Knowledge of fresh produce and cooking is very helpful. Most of all, you need to be physically healthy and able to work long hours outdoors, whether in cold, heat, humidity, mosquitoes, or rain, and get through tough conditions with a positive attitude and sense of humor. Attention to detail, the ability to work well with others as well as independently, and learning quickly are all important.
